How to Tell If Your Filipina Girlfriend Is a Keeper

When it comes to dating, we’ve all heard the phrase “she’s a keeper.”

But when was the last time you felt sure about it? And what did it particularly feel like?

A gut feeling in your stomach? A calm and steady reassurance that your lady is really the one?

According to the Philippine National Statistics, 49.8% of the country’s population is female, while 50.2% is male. And if you remove the elderly, married, and minors from the female group, all that’s left is maybe at least 10 to 20%. That’s still a lot of viable, single Filipinas.

To borrow the phrase, finding a good woman is like finding a needle in a haystack. Amidst wading through the statistics, you also need to sidestep unsavory singles whose only goal is to milk your wallet for all it’s worth.

So how can you really tell if she’s the one?

That’s the great thing about love and dating. It’s always a gamble. We don’t know how things will turn out in the future. We follow our hearts and listen to our gut. In the end, the decision is in our hands. We choose whom we want to spend the rest of our lives with.

She isn’t controlling or overly possessive

Let’s admit it, having a controlling and possessive partner can sometimes feel exciting. Some might even take it as a compliment. What’s more, the attention and the drama that comes with it can inflate anyone’s ego.

There’s also nothing wrong with a little possessive gesture every now and then to ward off unwanted pursuers. But having a partner who consistently shows aggressive signs of possessiveness and controlling behavior can make any sane man run for the hills.

If she constantly asks where you’re going and questions the people tagging along, then it might be because she’s curious or concerned. But when she starts snooping around your phone without your permission or demands your attention all the time, then that’s a red flag.

She isn’t petty

Healthy relationships are built on a foundation of trust and communication. While fights and confrontations are unavoidable, it’s important to know that at the end of the day, your partner still has your back and has your best interest at heart.

A good partner should know how to pick their battles wisely. A mature woman knows that bringing up a trivial issue and then blowing it up into exaggerated proportions is detrimental to a relationship’s growth. She won’t throw a fit just for the tiniest discomfort or inconvenience.

She is definitely not the type to nurse a small slight or harbor emotional events and use it as ammunition against you, waiting for the right time to strike or blame it all on you because she feels like it.

She keeps her promises

A woman playing for keeps will likely keep her promises. Most of it, anyway. After all, we’re only flawed humans.

Sometimes, it is inevitable for promises to end up broken. But the important thing to take away from this is that she stays true to her word.

This reflects a great deal about her character and what kind of person she truly is. It shows she is someone you can trust and doesn’t use excuses to get out of trouble.

A person who constantly contradicts themselves makes a poor reputation as an honest person. Before making any serious judgments, you can always ask them to clarify since some Filipinas may not know how to speak English well.

They might have accidentally mixed up a few words and said something that they didn’t really mean.

She has her own life experiences

When you’re dating somebody new, it can open up a whole new world of experiences. But just as you’re a complete human being, she is one too. She has her own unique experiences, her own circle of friends, and her own social groups.

She understands she has her own life apart from her role in your relationship, and it’s important to be able to live a full life with her by your side.

This means she doesn’t necessarily have to be attached to your side at all times. As a couple, you’ll be spending a lot of time together, and being able to do things separately is also as important.

It makes your conversations fun and there’s always something new to talk about since you come from different backgrounds.

Your interactions don’t always revolve around money

You might already know this, but a good woman will never chase after your money. You’ve heard stories about foreigners being scammed by women online who often ask for money in return and say empty promises.

These men end up being burned and become bitter because they were led into thinking the woman was sincere.

As a precaution, it’s best to feel her out by subtly asking about her financial health. Does she have a job? Is she still living with her family? What does she do during her spare time?

You can also do your own research and look up the cost of living in the Philippines to get a grasp of the country’s economy.

Be clear about your intentions

In the end, you’ll need to assess your own thoughts and observations to see if your lady is a keeper or not.

Does she meet the criteria you’re looking for in a partner? Does she match the standard you’re looking for? And more importantly, can you afford to keep the romance alive even after marriage?

You’ll need to let your Filipina know about your intentions if you’re committed to marrying her in the near future. Some Filipinas may have objections, especially relating to their family. But at their core, most Filipinas are the friendliest and kindest people you’ll meet.

There are several other factors to consider and some may even take time after marriage to consider, but many American men married to Filipinas have claimed they are very satisfied with their wives, and the latter also claim to be happily married to their husbands.

Interested in marrying a Filipina? Then why not consider international dating? There are several single Filipinas who are also interested in meeting foreign men like you.
