Going on a date with a girl is already nerve-wracking. It’s especially anxiety-inducing if the woman is a foreigner.

This nervousness mostly comes from the fact that she probably has different sorts of expectations than a local American woman and the fact that you want to meet her expectations and go beyond them because you like the girl.

First of all, relax.

Your date may have come from another country, but Filipinas are still women. Taking a Filipina out on a date is easy as long as you’re a gentleman. These women are friendly and gentle people, so they appreciate a kind and generous man.

Here are some tips on scoring points with your date.

Be generous

The Philippines is more traditional than America, which means its dating culture will most likely be the same. A Filipina isn’t expected to pay for the date, even though sometimes they will insist on paying their share.

But if you want to seem better in her eyes, make sure to pay for her. She will appreciate your generosity. Not to mention you footing the bill is indicative of how many Asian women want a husband who is financially stable.

Hard to swallow fact: A woman will judge you based on your financial stability. After all, they need to make sure if a man is capable of taking care of a family. Natural selection is an innate thing even females have with potential mating partners.

Respect the concept of family

One thing that is important to remember regarding Filipinos is their views on family. To explain it in a way that’s easily understandable, a statistical report says that Filipino women account for about 53% of OFWs. That is about 1.25 million Filipino women who work outside of the Philippines in order to provide for their families.

The bottom line here is that when it comes to family, it is a priority and the main reason why many local Filipinos do anything at all. They pursue a better education for their families. They apply for jobs because of their families. They don’t even leave home when they turn 18 because they would rather live with their families until they marry someone and have kids.

So when you go on a date with a Filipina, keep this in mind. Watch what you say. She will immediately ditch you if you start disrespecting her family. And if you talk badly about your own parents, know that she is observing you. She is trying to see how you act around your own family because it’s a reflection on how you will act once you start one yourself.

Another thing you should know is that she will probably introduce you to her family soon. And if they don’t like you, you can kiss your relationship goodbye. Parents influence their kids’ choices in partners whether they like it or not. Even if she claims to love you despite what her family thinks, at the back of her mind she is thinking about what her parents have said.

In summary, respect the family. Hers and yours.

The way to a Filipina’s heart is food

Filipina women love food. Going on a date with one means you need to take her out eating in order to get into her good graces. So make sure that you choose an interesting restaurant for a date.

The thing about Filipinas is that most of them don’t even mind the luxurious atmosphere because they’re more focused on how delicious the food is. Sure, some of them will still prefer eating in fancy restaurants, but if the food isn’t up to their standard, then expect some playful complaining.

The Philippines is fond of food. The women there love eating. If you find yourself at a loss on where to go, you can ask your date. A lot of Filipinas will jump at the chance at bringing you to their favorite places. They love taking their loved ones to restaurants since they not only get to show off, but they can also get to eat.

She likes to try new things

Most Filipinas will take you up on an adventure if you offer it. A lot of them are thrill-seekers and curious about many things. So if you take her out hiking, skydiving, or even camping, she will most likely say yes excitedly.

Ask her if she’s ever tried the activity you had in mind. Gauge her reaction and then ask her if she wants to try it. You’ll find that she will go with you in a heartbeat out of curiosity and a sense of adventure.

Fun dating ideas you could try with her:

  • Mountain climbing
  • Fruit picking
  • Stargazing
  • Shopping at a thrift store (Filipinas are very knowledgeable about where to get the best deals)
  • Kayaking
  • Ice-skating (despite being a tropical country, the Philippines has malls with ice-rinks in them)
  • Heading to a spa to relax and unwind
  • Hiking
  • Camping (for places, look through Instagram for famous camping spots in the country)
  • Going to a casino
  • Hitting the beach

Obviously there are so many things under the sun that you can do with your lover. It ranges from simple things, like going on a picnic to maybe leaving the country for an adventure. As long as you two are having fun, that’s all that really matters, right?

Be a gentleman

Never forget your manners. Filipinas are taught how to be polite at a young age, so they expect a man to sweep them off their feet. It’s not difficult to be a gentleman.

Don’t forget to open doors for her, pull up a seat for her, and give her your coat if it gets cold outside. Carry her bag for her too and hold her hand when you two are walking. Maybe you could even offer your arm for her to hold onto.

Being a gentleman is a basic life skill. If you don’t know how to treat a woman right — or at least be a decent man in general — then you will have no chances with any women.
